PMCJ is a movement composed of the affected sectors and communities, CSOs and POs that stand united in demanding for what we call climate justice. It is a concept that dwells on the anthropogenic or human causes of climate change, demanding the rich, industrialized, overly-consuming countries (Annex 1) to be held accountable for their abuse of the atmospheric space due to their too much emissions greenhouse gases (GHGs). Although globally all countries must do their share in solving the climate crisis, PMCJ believes that those countries, which caused the most damage must do more and make a significant contribution in resolving the crisis.
PMCJ also brings forward the demands and amplify the voices of the most affected and vulnerable communities, which is a step towards claiming for climate justice.

EVENT GOALS & OBJECTIVES
We Filipinos are well aware of the impacts of climate change–heavier rains, intolerable heat, etc. Beyond its complexities, climate change is caused mainly by the increased volume of different gases in the atmosphere. These are called greenhouse gases (GHG) that regulates the temperature in our climate through the ‘greenhouse gas effect’.
GHG is not bad per se but when emitted beyond its normal rate, it will raise global temperature (global warming) thus creating different effects on our climate (such as climate change). Where do GHG come from?
From 1800 to 1988, the Philippines and other developed countries only contributed around 17% of GHG emissions. While the developed countries emitted 83% of global GHG emissions. In the same time period, the US emitted 33% while the EU emitted 26%. Despite this, until now, developed countries fail to reduce their GHG emissions accordingly. We can’t wait for them if we want to mitigate climate change but we have the means to let everybody know about their GHG trail.
We need to crank up the pressure on major emitters like the US and EU if we want to mitigate climate change in the Philippines and in the world.
