When Lou Wandsworth ran away to France with her teacher Mike Hughes, she thought he was the love of her life. But Mike wasn't what he seemed and he left her life in pieces.
Now 32, Lou discovers that he is involved with teenager Chloe Meadows. Determined to make sure history doesn't repeat itself, she returns home to confront him for the damage he's caused.
But Mike is a predator of the worst kind, and as Lou tries to bring him to justice, it's clear that she could once again become his prey...

This is my second C.L Taylor novel. I'm becoming quite a fan. The Fear is the kind of psychological thriller I enjoy the most, well-written and intense with great characters. I thought Lou was great, quite a bad ass considering what she went through when she was so young. My heart ached for Chloe. Teenage Lou and Chloe are the kind of girls who can easily become victims of paedophile's, quiet, easily influenced, desperate to be loved. Mike is a great character. He made my flesh crawl trying to imply that he was in love with Lou when she was only fourteen. Ugh! I enjoyed the flashbacks to Lou and Mike's life in France and how his behaviour becomes more and more disturbing. A lot happens in The Fear including Mike's unstable ex-wife coming out of the shadows. I was gripped from start to finish.
