“Why don’t you go to church?” (One Saturday evening in early September 2007).
I had not been to church in a while as I only went when I felt like it. Having been stripped of everything and everyone that really meant anything to me between that year and the previous year, that day I had decided to commit suicide as I felt there was no point in living anymore. On hearing “the Voice,” I thought: Do I even know where a church is over here? I recalled having seen a church on one of the roads I often drove through. The next day I went to Mass late in the morning at this church and sat at the very end of the last pew, as close to the door as possible. Three years later, I was to discover that the Voice – an authoritative but loving, bass voice – was that of the Almighty Father.
