Story: The Estate starts when sisters Macey (Collette) and Savanna (Faris) attempt to get close to their terminally ill Aunt Hilda (Turner). They find themselves facing competition from other family members Richard (Duchovny) and Beatrice (DeWitt). The four want to try and become the favorite so they can get her inheritance.

As the cousins end up getting caught up in a battle to one-up each other. This sees them trying different plans they end up getting caught up in endless battles to see who is the best.

Verdict on The Estate

The Estate is a comedy following a group of cousins trying to win over their Aunt Hilda to inherit her estate. They go through a string of different things to make this a reality, always trying to find something better.

This is a comedy that relies on trying to create awkward situations for the characters. It sends them through a host of odd moments that cause bigger problems. Deep down, this is about family rivalries as they each need to learn a lesson before it is too late. This does take us down the road of over-the-top silly things happening. Which does take us out of the bigger picture too easily.

The performances are fun with Anna Faris stealing the show with her characters desperation and low moral standard. In the rest of the cast everyone does their jobs well, even if the comedy misses a lot more it needs to.

Final Thoughts – The Estate is a comedy that goes well over-the-top.
