The Escape by @callytaylor

When a stranger asks Jo Blackmore for a lift she says yes, then swiftly wishes she hadn't.

The stranger knows Jo's name, she knows her husband Max and she's got a glove belonging to Jo's two year old daughter Elise.

What begins with a subtle threat swiftly turns into a nightmare as the police, social services and even Jo's own husband turn against her.

No one believes that Elise is in danger. But Jo knows there's only one way to keep her child safe - RUN.

I struggled to enjoy The Escape at first because I really disliked Jo but I've enjoyed other books by the author so stuck with it, hoping things would turn around. They did but it took a lot of chapters to get me on Jo's side. I disliked Jo at first, she's a placid, wet rag of a person. She never stands up for herself and is so meek and accommodating. Thankfully, she grows some backbone before the end of the book and I found myself rooting for her. The Escape has everything I enjoy about a solid, twisty thriller.
