On Nov. 20 at London’s Somerset House opens exhibition «Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!», Which will showcase more than one hundred items from the personal wardrobe of Isabella .The exhibition is supported by the Central Saint Martins College and Isabella Blow Foundation.
Isabella Blow was the inimitable personality with a tragic fate : she was wearing fabulous hats, awakened the genius of Alexander McQueen and Sophie Dahl beauty , inspired the iconic milliner Philip Treacy and the famous photographer Steven Meisel . She worked with VOGUE and Tatler, and her taste was celebrated by everyone in the UK fashion industry.
The curator of the exhibition Alistair O’Neill who only met Isabella Blow just once said : “I thought it was important to distance Isabella from those literary ideas of the English eccentric, because they’re often quite tragic,” he explained. “And I’m not sure Isabella was fully tragic—she was quite brave, and very funny. She had a very bored and black humor.” Furthermore, Blow always wore her outfits—whether it be a metallic McQueen corset or an ensemble crafted from brightly hued garbage bags—in a deeply considered manner. “Isabella used her clothes, her hats, and her accessories as a means to modify and transform herself,” said O’Neill.
Along with photos, correspondence and videos will be shown at the exhibition the incredible wardrobe of Isabella , which is now owned by Daphne Guinness . Also on display will be the best samples of the graduate collection of Alexander McQueen that Isabella Blow acquired .
Before she died in the hospital the nurses said Isabella , “I am important. Look for me in Google ». And she was right.
