Roland of Gilead, the Last Gunslinger, encounters three doors which open to 1980's America, where he joins forces with the defiant Eddie Dean and the courageous, volatile Odetta Holmes. And confronts deadly serial killer Jack Mort.
As the titanic forces gather, a savage struggle between underworld evil and otherworldly enemies conspire to bring an end to Roland's quest for the Dark Tower.

The gunslinger came awake from a confused dream which seems to consist of a single image; that of the Sailor in the Tarot deck from which the man in black had dealt (or purported to deal) the gunslinger's own moaning future.- PROLOGUE, THE SAILOR

The Drawing of the Three is one of my favourite books in The Dark Tower series. There's something I really love about it. The book picks up where The Gunslinger ended, Roland comes awake at the place where he palavered with the man in black to find him long dead and turned to bones and sets off to 'draw' the three who will join his quest for The Dark Tower. Roland finds three doors standing on a beach, each one miles apart and starts his quest in earnest. I loved the way Roland interacts with Eddie, Odetta/Detta and finally Jack. I can't wait to read book three, also one of my favourites.
