Known for her eponymous blog and her confessional style of writing, this is Trista Mateer's second collection of poetry.

This is my first time reading the poet.
I really enjoyed The Dogs I Have Kissed. Mateer writes the kind of poetry I enjoy reading and writing myself, confessional pieces, poetry taken from her own life and experiences and turned into something different. I personally think the best poems are autobiographical. I really don't like poems about nature and the like. I like poets who cut their heart open to show me how red their blood really is. I almost felt like I was sharing something intimate, personal and at times, painful with Mateer. I could relate to so many of these poems.
