Verdict: On the Edge Thriller
Story: The Disappearance of Alice Creed starts when Vic (Marsan) and Danny (Compston) preparing for their kidnapping job, right down to the smallest details. Once prepared the two capture their target Alice Creed (Arterton) as they return her to the hideout where the send out the photographs waiting for a ransom to come through.
As the film unfolds we see how far Vic & Danny need to go to make sure they get the money but Vic running the show starts to see Danny acting out of character as the reality of what they are doing is becoming too much for him as the twists are ready to unfold along the way.
The Disappearance of Alice Creed is a crime thriller that does do something very interesting to the kidnapping sub-genre, we have always seen this from the victim’s family point of view but with this one we only see the kidnappers side of the story. the story is filled with twists but unfortunately they are the downfall for this film because it turns into a greed consuming film when it set everything up to be a clean cut job that would get the job done without a hitch. There is no doubting this will keep you in edge throughout but just be aware that the experts end up making rookie mistakes.
Actor Review
Gemma Arterton: Alice Creed is the daughter of a rich man who has become the target of the two criminals. She does have a connection with one of them and has to try and use as much know how to escape the situation alive. Gemma gives us a brave performance having to take part in a few risk filled scenes.
Martin Compston: Danny is the younger of the two kidnappers, he has a connection with Alice while trying to play Vic along the way. You can see him get conflicted about what is happening because of his connection. Martin is good in this role working well with the other two members of the cast.
Eddie Marsan: Vic is the experienced kidnapper that has planned everything down perfectly, or so he thinks. He controls each situation as it unfolds and has the dealings with the family who will be paying the ransom. Eddie is good in this role showing how he is in control.
Support Cast: The Disappearance of Alice Creed doesn’t have any more members in the cast.
Director Review: J Blakeson – J gives us a very good thriller that keeps us on edge throughout and feels fresh in the genre.
Crime: The Disappearance of Alice Creed puts us into a planned kidnap of rich girl to show us the crime side of the story without being involved in the actual ransom side.

Believability: The start feels like it could be real but I feel the ending doesn’t.
