The Difference Between a Good HDMI Cable and a Great One

By Upliftingfam @upliftingfam

Does Your Television Constantly Lose Its Signal Check the HDMI CableWhen I buy an HDMI cable I usually go for something on the lower quality side.  This is mainly because I didn’t think that I would notice much of a difference between the inexpensive and the cables that cost a bit more money.  I will say that my cheaper cables do occasionally have a few issues with picture quality.  I have noticed that sometimes there is a poor connection between the TV and our cable box, it will show that it has lost its connection and I’ll have to get up and dig behind the television for 5 minutes to disconnect and reconnect the cable just to get the poor quality cable working again.  I also tend to have issues with the signal that I used to attribute to the cable box not working well but I think the actual HDMI cable may have been causing some of the problems too.

Disclosure: We received a set of premium series gold plated HDMI cable to faciliate this review. All opinions are 100% our own and we wouldn’t recommend products that we don’t recommend.

Recently I received this PREMIUM SERIES GOLD Plated 6 ft High Speed HDMI® Cable with Ethernet brand cable and I immediately noticed an increase in quality by just looking at it.  The cable itself was better shielded and the ends appeared to be put together in a sturdy fashion.  I also noticed that this cable is gold plated.  The first time that I used the cable, I had a bunch of family over for my son’s birthday.  One of my family members is a photographer and she had done some professional pictures for my sisters family and they wanted me to set up my laptop so that everyone could view the digital photos on the big screen television.  This seemed like the perfect time to break out the new HDMI cable. I was very quickly able to find a port on the side of the TV and a nice comfy chair to sit in while I showed pictures.

As soon as I changed the input settings on the television, I noticed something was wrong with the colors being a bit too warm. I able to quickly remedy the problem by adjusting a few settings on the television at which point the picture became very crisp and clear.  The high resolution images looked great.

I don’t have a system that supports this but another awesome feature that I discovered with this HDMI cable is that it will carry an Ethernet signal as well as audio and video.  Basically what this means is fewer cables when hooking up a system that includes internet enabled devices.  Who doesn’t want fewer cables?  You can learn more about Ethernet over HDMI.

The length, sturdiness, and crisp clear audio and video that this cable delivers with no loss of quality from the original source is what makes it a good decision for any home theater or even gaming system. This cable is 6ft long and most typical HDMI cables are only three feet long. Purchase a two pack of these Premium Series Gold Plated HMDI cables on Amazon for $35.00.
