Plot: Meagan Mullen, freshly moved in her new home, keeps in touch with her friends and family through a video blog. As her entries (and her life) become more complex and emotional, strange things begin to happen in her room: and the camera captures all of it. Told primarily from the point of view of an ordinary wireless webcam, The Death of April documents the unsettling activity in an otherwise average girl’s bedroom – and the mysteries that surround it

Story: The Death of April starts when Meagen (Hughes) starts a new life away from her friends and family. She is working with children and decides to send video blogs of her time away from her family. However, we move to interviews from her family Stephanie (Domini), Stephen (Lowder) and Jason (Peters). All discussing her meaning to them.
This turns the story into a reflective piece, as we know something has happened to Meagen. The videos offer up some uncertainty for what happened as Meagen shows the changes in her life. This gets worse, as she starts investigating unusual events around her apartment.
Verdict on The Death of April
The Death of April is a horror movie that uses the popularity of ‘Lake Mungo’ for an idea. Filled with interviews and footage from the time before an incident happened. It uses the idea that a quiet life started to change through a series of unusual events around her apartment.
This follows the ever-escalating event, bouncing between paranormal and real crime. Not giving us enough clues to which, by keeping us guessing what happened in the build-up to the incident. It is interesting and does everything well, despite its lacks the big scare moments, turning more into mildly uncomfortable events happening.
Final Thoughts – The Death of April is an interesting found-footage movie but lacks shocks along the way.
