Faeries. Knights. Princes. True love. Think you know how the story goes? Think again...

The Darkest Part of the Forest by @hollyblack

Near the little town of Fairfold, in the darkest part of the forest, lies a glass casket. Inside the casket lies a sleeping faerie prince that none can rouse. He's the most fascinating thing Hazel and her brother Ben have ever seen. They dream of waking him - but what happens when dreams come true? In the darkest part of the forest, you must be careful what you wish for.

This is one of the first Kindle books I bought, back when I didn't even have a Kindle and read on my PC using the App. Funny, how it's taken me so long to get round to reading it. I wish I hadn't waited. I thought this was a corker of a book. I love fairy tales, the darker the better so this was right up my street. Black offers a twisted take on Sleeping Beauty. What's not to love? This is a truly original book. It was a pleasure to read. I got completely lost in the strangeness of Fairfold and the lives of Hazel, her twin Ben and the mysterious horned boy. I've never read the author before though I've heard a lot of good things about her. I really need to read more of her work.
