My first big walk of the year – regular Daily Constitutionalists will know that my days off are taken up with big London rambles – took me from Greenwich Peninsula at dawn…… to Chelsea and thence into the West End. Here's the route…

On the 9th January I conducted the Ghosts of the Old City tour – a walk which may as well have taken place IN the Thames, so heavy was the rain.
