The Crookes are more akin to The Kooks than their other Sheffield V.I.P’s Arctic Monkeys, probably something the city is thankful for after having to put up with some serious yob throwbacks, Jon Mclure being the lowest point of the influx. That said though owe a lot to their hometown, as well as giving them their roots that they remain true too; naming themselves after a suburb of the town where the founding members, Alex Saunders and Daniel Hopewell met.
Though not in the immediate thoughts of tipsters in terms of the next big indie band, when Noel Gallagher singles out you for praise you should probably pay attention. They’ve enjoyed immediate and consistant success due to rigorous touring since their inception in 2008 and the hype is only gaining momentum since the release and subsequent sell-out of their limited press debut “A collier’s wife // By the Seine” last year. The hotly anticipated album “chasing after ghosts” hit the digital shelves yesterda though they’re probably still in Texas sleeping off SXSW, why not give them something nice to come back to.
