Verdict on The Colour Purple

The Colour Purple is a musical adaptation of the novel that follows a woman who is facing and fighting hardships. It takes us to the era where the black community are considered free, but still not seen as free and one woman deals with abuse from the man who is meant to love her.

This movie brings to life the novel in a new way to give the characters a different voice. It tells the same story and shows the hardship of a generation and how they fought to overcome it. We get a great series of performances to mix with the important story being told. It is nice seeing a different vision for the story, one that paints a lot more positive to come from the reward for fighting back and standing up for themselves.
