38 Yiu Wa Street, Causeway Bay. On my never-ending quest to find the perfect English breakfast and well-brewed coffee, I finally managed to tick The Coffee Academics off my to-eat list and, you know what, I might be able to happily end my adventure here.
Nestled in Causeway Bay beside Times Square, behind scores of streets, is The Coffee Academics’ flagship store. Easily the most photogenic coffee house that I’ve stepped foot in so far, The Coffee Academics prides themselves on custom blended coffee and, unsurprisingly, teaching the craft of coffee.
The flagship store is outstandingly beautiful. Wooden surfaces, industrial surfaces, mismatched chairs and coffee brewing utensils all out in full glory. It’s a dream and I’ve made a mental note to pack my laptop and head back for a working afternoon soon!
I ordered one of the globally inspired blends, a coffee with a dark brown sugar from the Okinawa Islands. Creamy yet light, aromatic yet not too overpowering, it was SO damn good. So good.
Food wise, Rachel and I pretty much wanted to order the entire menu! In the end, we settled for the Academics Breakfast (mine; a full English) and Rachel for an Avocado Eggs Benedict. If you’ve been hunting for a good full English in Hong Kong, then from a native Brit, this is it. How good does this all look though?!
