The Christmas Gift

Posted on the 25 December 2019 by Views She Writes @ViewsSheWrites

This Christmas, Santa was planning to give some kids a huge lump of coal. The elves didn’t understand. Even Mrs. Claus tried to talk her husband out of the idea.

“They are small kids, Santa. We have a lot of toys left. We could give them those toys. Please don’t give them coal, no matter how bad they had been throughout the year.”

But Santa laughed his merry laughter. “They get what they deserve and nothing more,” he said and set off to deliver coal to those kids.

On Christmas Day, when it was snowing heavily outside, the homeless kids huddled in their shelter and burned the coals for warmth. They looked up just in time to see Santa Claus riding away and smiled.

Santa knew what they wanted for Christmas. Sometimes, even a lump of coal is a thoughtful gift.
