The Bone Forest is nowhere near as good as the other Mythago Wood books, Mythago Wood and Lavondyss. I was really disappointed.

The only decent stories in this collection are the title piece, The Bone Forest and Scarrowfell. Of these, The Bone Forest is the better.

The Bone Forest is a novella that serves as a prequal of sorts to the first book, Mythago Wood, looking at the father of Stephen and Christopher, his increasing obsession with Ryhope Wood and how the brothers are exposed to it. This is a great tale.

The other stories were okay but nothing special. They are inspired by the myths and worlds created with the books but just weren't special.

I hope book four, The Hollowing fares better.
