I received an email from Lazada this morning informing that the online store is starting their Chinese New Year Special promotion, beginning today. I was indeed interested in a number of items in the website but I will only focus on those which is applicable to this blog. It is also a sad moment for me because this sale came too late, after I have almost exhausted my savings, and therefore no shopping for me, this post is merely for sharing and for those who are still hunting for budget smartphones.

Among the items on sale is the Blackberry Curve 9320 which is now available for RM488 from the original price of RM799. Another phone of note is the Blackberry Curve 9360 which was retailed originally for RM1050 but now available only for RM699, a phone which happened to be my dream phone (of course I already bought one a few days ago) the Sony Xperia Go, now available for RM699 from the original list price of RM999 as well as a smartphone which I reviewed in the “Budget Smartphone of the Week” section, the Samsung Galaxy Y is now available for a RM338 instead listed price of RM499, to get more information of the Galaxy Y, click here. There are a few more smartphones and other items listed in the Chinese New Year sale but I am not going to elaborate each one here, if you are interested on other items, visit the site for yourself, here.

It’s difficult to pronounce the Blackberry in the local tongue

I will be focusing this post on the Blackberry Curve 9320 because it is now sold under RM500 and is affordable enough to Blackberry lovers especially young people and those on a very tight budget. The only special features that the Curve 9320 has against other phones are the ease of writing texts and of course the brand name itself. The device is first announced in Malaysia in May 2012 with a price tag of RM799. It is now available for RM488, indicating a price difference or savings of RM311! In term of specs, the Curve 9320 features a 3G support, a basic 3.2MP camera, a 2.44-inch display offering 320X240 resolutions, 512MB of RAM, a 1,450mAh battery, external storage can be further expanded to 32GB through a microSD card. The phone is powered by Blackberry 7.1 operating system and QWERTY keyboard. You can find full specs details, here.

I think most users who fancy the Blackberry brand doesn’t really care about whether it has the best specs around but more on the ease of typing, navigation, look and feel that it offers and of course the brand name and sturdiness of the device as well.
