A wireless charging mat for your iPhone or android phone can be a staple in your office or at home, but it can also be a useful tool for getting inside your car. Even the best wireless car charger isn't a completely wireless experience - it requires power and a cable that plugs into your car's cigarette lighter. But it's handy when you don't have to think about plugging a cable into your phone every time you get in the car.
Note that each wireless charger in this buyer's guide is compatible with any phone that supports wireless charging, whether it's an iPhone, Samsung galaxy, Google Pixel or other models. And if you're really tied to your phone case - as long as it's not super thick - you can leave it on your smartphone and still be able to charge your phone.

iOttie finally has an auto-sense self-tightening wireless car charger with phone holder - and it's a good one. The Qi Self-Tightening Auto Charge Car Phone Holder is available in a dashboard mount version or in a CD and Vent Clip version (I tried the wireless dashboard charge holder). It has a well designed telescopic arm, a strong suction cup and the charging function of the cordless phone is compatible with most phone cases. You get a charge of 7.5 W for an iPhone and 10 W for Android phones, which is considered fast wireless charging.
This Qi wireless charger comes with a dual charge USB cigarette lighter adapter. My only complaint - and it's a small one - is that the cable included is Micro USB and not USB Type-C. Once the cable is plugged into the wireless car charger, you can practically forget about it, but if the cable becomes accidentally unplugged (which happens), it's easier to plug in a USB-C cable to charge the phone, especially when you're driving.
If you don't mind going with an unnamed brand like ZeeHoo, its wireless car charger has most of the features you want for charging the phone, including automatic clamping, a secure suction cup, USB-C and a fast charge of 10 W for the Android phones that support it (iPhones are capped at 7.5 W of charge). It's not as stylish as the iOttie - and it doesn't come with a cigarette lighter adapter - just a USB-C cable - but it's $ 35 less.
It's one of the most popular generic wireless car chargers with an auto-sensing telescopic arm, and I thought it worked well overall, securely attaching to my car ventilation mount and giving my smartphone fast charging. I liked that the wireless car charger came with a phone holder for my dashboard and a ventilation holder. Note that for fast charging, you will need an AC adapter that supports it (not included).
If you want to use a slightly more discreet wireless charger, a magnetic holder is a good choice. The iOttie iTap 2 Wireless is available in versions with air vent, CD slot and dashboard car holder. I tried the ventilation version, which has a locking mechanism on the ventilation clip that keeps the charger stand securely attached to the ventilation.
For your cordless phone to work with a magnetic car holder, you need a case with built-in metal (which I have) or you can attach one of the thin self-adhesive metal plates included on the back of your telephone (stick down so as not to interfere with the wireless charging circuits in the middle). You can even cover the plate with your phone case, but make sure the case isn't too thick or your phone won't stick to the charger stand.
The iOttie iTap 2 includes a dual USB car charger with an additional USB port for charging a second device. The included cable is a micro-USB cable, not USB-C, which does not have accelerated charging capabilities. My iPhone 11 Pro was safely left on the charger, but those with larger phones like the iPhone 11 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 would probably do better with one of the wireless charger options listed below. -above.
The X-Doria Defense Helix wireless car charging stand with RoboGrip is equipped with "robotic" arms that open automatically when you place your phone near the charger, then close after you have docked it. You can easily remove it from its charging station by pressing a button on the docking station, which causes the arms to open. It is compatible to be used as a wireless charger for iPhone and Android devices.
This charger comes with an air vent, a USB-C cable and a dual car power adapter with two USB-A ports (QC 3.0 and 2.1A). It powers iPhones at 7.5 W and gives Android phones fast charging up to 10 W.
It is also well built and relatively inexpensive compared to other wireless car chargers with motorized arms with automatic detection. The only small problem that I had with this wireless charger is that, although the ventilation bracket locks quite securely, if you have a big bump and your car bounces, it will sometimes slip.
