Mowing your lawn can be a therapeutic hobby, but also a nightmare if you can't find the time (or the will) to turn on the old rope mower. Fortunately, for those of us who wish to part with a few dollars, there are now robotic lawn mowers to take all the time and pain of seasonal lawn maintenance. Battery operated, a strong robotic mower will be able to learn your lawn inside and out, cutting quickly, quietly, and on a schedule you create.
We review the best robotic lawn mowers of 2020, along with their main features. For our list, we consider performance quality in a few categories, such as noise levels, automatic sensors, and blade adjustment.
Worx WR140

This Worx model shows a solid understanding of what the average buyer needs from a reliable robotic mower. First, they need a reasonable price: many people interested in a robotic lawnmower won't want to spend thousands of dollars, especially if they don't know exactly how it will work. Second, buyers are looking for robots that can handle relatively small spaces very cleanly. The WR140 meets these needs as it is a less than $ 1,000 mower designed to do a very good job on lawns of about a quarter of an acre or less.
The mower is designed to follow a schedule based on the information you provide about your lawn on the app, cutting in light layers that don't need to be emptied or collected - and you can always adjust the cutting height if necessary. The "cut-to-edge" design helps the blades mow as close to the edges of the lawn as possible, so you don't get those annoying stragglers near flower beds, and there's a handy alert feature that sends you out. a notification if your mower leaves the lawn space, which indicates a performance problem or someone is tampering with the unit (every good robotic mower should have this feature).
At 20V, it's not the most powerful robot, but it does have the features a lawn owner needs, including automatic battery charging and the ability to climb 20-degree hills. The sensors will prevent it from colliding with anything surprising, and you can also surround specific items with included magnetic strips so that the robot avoids that area. Overall, the Worx WR140 is a great robot mower for the first robot cutters.
Robomow RS630

We tested the Robomow RS630 a few years ago, and it's still one of the best robotic lawn mowers, even if the price is a bit steep. However, for larger and more complex grounds you will need a little more lawn mower than the Worx above. The Robomow RS630 handles yards of up to three-quarters of an acre and yards on slopes up to 20 degrees, making it ideal for most types of yards. It also has a rain sensor to prevent mowing in bad weather and an automatic recharge when the mower is low.
With an operational decibel range of up to 78 dB, the Robomow RS630 is certainly noisier than the Husqvarna Automower 450X (our next recommendation), but it's significantly quieter than your average riding mower.
Husqvarna Automower 450X

Husqvarna's Automower 450X covers most of the turf - up to 1.25 acres. While the other models on this list incorporate softer lines and warmer, matte color combinations, the Automower 450X has more of a gloss, RoboCop 2 build and looks downright threatening in your front yard.
Like the other models, you will need to "fence" the perimeter of your lawn and garden before you mow for the first time. That said, you can also adjust your yard map through the app to mark additional areas to avoid. This is necessary for ditches or more rugged areas where the mower might have difficulty with adequate traction.
You can schedule the mowing times in any given month, allowing the model to cut as steadily or as little as possible. Regular mowing minimizes cuts, resulting in a cleaner yard.
Perhaps its best feature, however, is its quiet operation. Graduated to just 58 decibels, the Husqvarna Automower 450X is about as loud as an air conditioning unit. If you really wanted to, you could probably get away with mowing in the middle of the night without waking the neighbors.
Honda Miimo HRM520

It's hardly surprising that Honda - the company that brought us Asimo - was one of the pioneers of lawn care robot manufacturers. Overall, the Miimo HRM520 is one of our favorite offerings in the market, with its three-quarter acre mowing capacity and impressive grade mowing capability of up to 25 degrees.
The HRM520 app allows you to adjust the cutting height, start or stop the unit, and also manage a schedule from your smartphone. This model uses an innovative "continuous cutting system", where the machine cuts your lawn by about an inch several times a week. Honda says this promotes better growth and overall health of the yard compared to infrequent and larger cuts.
This regular lawn care can also adapt on its own to seasonal grass changes. When the machine detects thicker sections of grass, it can quickly deteriorate to maintain precise cuts. The Honda Miimo HRM520 also uses internal sensors to avoid hitting barriers. Its three panoramic sensors allow it to function and cut in great shape.
Husqvarna 115H Connect

The Husqvarna 315X is easily controlled and customized. It is a reliable device that can handle lawn maintenance for gardens of about a half an acre or less, with slopes of 22 degrees or less and a grass height of 2.4 inches or less. You can control this lawn care device through your smartphone and its LCD panel, where you can customize the controls. Its battery will last a little over an hour with each use.
The Husqvarna 115H Connect is one of the best robotic lawn mowers when it comes to voice control technologies. This mower easily connects with Google Assistant and Alexa. You can set specific controls to start, stop, pause or park your mower, set when to maintain your lawn, and more.
