The Best Phone Models You Should Consider Buying in 2023

Posted on the 26 January 2023 by Shoumya Chowdhury

The mobile phone market is becoming increasingly competitive as Apple and Samsung’s monopoly has become slightly weaker in recent years. Whilst they are still the two highest-selling and best smartphone vendors in the world, there are plenty more players in the industry for all budgets.

Many consumers are looking for phones to utilize all of their technological needs, whether it be work, shopping, streaming, or gaming. The mobile gaming segment is the most lucrative in the gaming industry, with a market volume of US$172.10bn in 2023.

This is especially true for online casino gaming. With the gambling industry making a huge shift to online rather than land-based casinos, games such as poker online have become increasingly popular amongst players. Live casino means streaming has become a big part of online gambling and a good phone can lead to a better all-around experience.

For the best phones to do all of this and more, look no further. Here are the best phone models you should consider buying in 2023.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Samsung is the leading android phone vendor in the world and this release proves just why. This is an excellent all-rounder phone, whether you are looking for gaming, photography capabilities, or streaming.

The screen resolution is 1440 x 3088 with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a very high peak brightness of 1,750 nits. The display is fantastic and provides a great experience when gaming or streaming.

It has a great battery that will easily last you all day for general use, though it can take a little while to charge.

The camera also has some great features. With 100x digital zoom capabilities and ultrawide shots, it may be the closest to a genuine digital camera that Samsung has ever got.

It does come in at a pricy $900 however and whilst it may be worth every penny, there are few of us willing to part with that amount of cash.

Google Pixel 7/Pro

Google’s latest flagship phone has an incredible camera and a Tensor G2 chipset that allows for excellent AI and machine learning.

Its 6.3-inch 1080 x 2400 AMOLED screen looks great and whilst the 90Hz refresh rate may not be quite as good as Samsung’s S22, this is still an exceptional display. The pro version has a 6.7-inch 1440 x 3120 display with a 120Hz refresh rate that is bigger and slightly smoother.

They have a good battery life even if you are using them heavily though again can take a while to charge.

The camera may be the main attraction here though. Both models are outstanding, especially with the photo unblur mode, however, the Pro model has a telephoto lens allowing for 5x optical zoom which the standard model does not.

The standard model starts at around $599 whilst the pro model is $899, meaning the standard model is a great middle-price range phone.

Realme GT 2

Whilst the specs may indicate that this phone is not the best of the rest, for its price you cannot go wrong.

It does have a great OLED display with a 6.6-inch screen, FHD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate which whilst not top of the range is entirely respectable. The battery power is huge, far better than Apple and Samsung, and the charging is super-fast.

It comes equipped with a 50MP camera, brilliant for low-light conditions and colorful photos.

The 8GB RAM 128GB model is priced at just $349, putting it at the low end of most people’s budgets for a smartphone. This is undoubtedly the best budget option in 2023.

iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max both have a 120Hz refresh rate and can get very bright. The only real difference is the screen size, which is 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch respectively.

The battery life is much better than the previous iPhone and the charging is fast. However, the issues with Apple’s batteries are well documented and it would be more interesting to see where it is at a year after heavy use.

The camera however is not quite as good as the previous entries on this list. 48MP is respectable but just 3x optical zoom is disappointing.

The pro version starts at around $799 making somewhere between mid and top-budget, however, the Pro Max model comes in at a pricey $1,199.

OnePlus 10 Pro

With a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, this phone also supports HDR10+. It also comes with a powerful chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

It has a decent battery but incredibly fast 80W charging outside the US, with 65W in the States.

What may let this phone down though is the camera which does not quite live up to other smartphones? It has three rear cameras that whilst strong, do not perform quite as well as the others on this list.

However, the price of around $512 makes this very tempting for a lower budget.
