Potful is for all Biryani Lovers, may it be Hyderabadi Biryani or Donne or Lucknowi or even from Kolkata, Potful has it all. The way they are serving these authentic Biryani’s is even more peculiar i.e. in a Claypot bringing a unique concept in an already crowded market space. Potful is a new home delivery concept bringing different Biryani’s from across India to the home’s in Bangalore. Their menu isn’t vast but comprises of Biryani’s, wraps, tandoori starters and Indian desserts.
We ordered the food from their website and it reached us on time. Everything was nicely packed and it was fantastic to finally see an Indian way of serving food in the Claypot. We got a pot each of Hyderabadi Biryani and the Hyderabadi Paneer Biryani. The Pot needs to be heated so that it could be opened as it is sealed with a special flour. It was a bit difficult than what it sounds like. But both these Biryani’s are made from long grain Basmati rice with aromatic whole spices and fresh vegetables. The Biryani’s are served with salan and raita. The salan was a bit on the milder side and went well with the spicy Biryani. Coming to the Paneer Biryani, the Biryani had large chunks of grilled paneer for extra flavor and we loved it!
Potful has only few tandoori starters like Tandoori Bharwan Aloo and the Banarasi Paneer Tikka. The Bharwan Aloo are grilled and then stuffed with dry fruits. Served with a spicy green chutney they tasted great. The Paneer Tikka was done in a Banarasi style as it had a layer of Paan Ka Patta, Gulkand and Chaman Bahar. While the flavors of these were very mild we could taste the mint based marination.
Coming to the Wraps we tasted the Harippa Paneer Tikka Wrap and the Veg Jalfrezi Wrap. These are served with a spicy red chutney which enhances the overall taste. Both the wraps were succulent in taste while the Harippa wrap had Paneer Tikka Cubes marinated in Onions, the Jalfrezi Wrap had all kinds of veggies like carrots, onions and so on. Don’t miss them!
We were so looking forward to the Indian desserts and ordered the Matka Pista Kulfi and the Matka Kesari Firni. The Kulfi had a lot of Pistachios and saffron and was of thick consistency. The Kesari Firni almost blew our minds as it was perfect. The firni is made with cardamom powder, rose water, saffron and again served in a claypot taking us back to the Moghul times!
Potful is an adventure of Birynai’s, wraps and starters but don’t miss the desserts! The style of serving the food in claypot is simple fascinating as it enhanced the earthy flavors!
