Hello Freckles 2014 Beauty Favourites
It's been difficult to narrow down to just 10 stand out products of 2014, but somehow I've done it! From nails to perfume to body, I think I've covered all things beauty and of course I've got a few shout outs to some close contenders.
Let's start with hair products. I had ombré hair for the majority of this year before recently getting it chopped and I've been a big fan of the Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Spray. Paul Mitchell just beat Redken with the Extra Body Daily Boost products, this root spray* injects volume and makes hair appear fuller and thicker. When I use it with the shampoo and conditioner it's even better!
The Body Shop really impressed me this year and I've been into local stores more times than I can count on both hands. Just tidying up yesterday I found 4 full sized body butters and a mini one, so from now on I'm on a body butter ban (but we'll see how long that lasts!) oops! The Wild Argan Oil Range is incredible. I've dedicated this post to it, plus a little mention here and I just can't express how good it is. I'm kinda cheating here by including the body butter*, but really the whole range is one of my favourites and I know I'm getting the gift set for Christmas too! Yup...another body butter!
The Body Shop's Colour Crush Nails launched this Autumn and I'm really impressed by the selection of shades available. This shade 'Deeply In Love' was on my nails throughout October and into November and I'm currently wearing it now. If that doesn't show how big a fan I am, then check out this post. A very close second was Revlon Colorstay in 'Up The Ante'.
Elizabeth and James Nirvana White is by far my favorite scent of this year. I've been loving Flowerbomb, Daisy Dream and Armani Diamonds Rose (last year's Christmas perfume which has almost ran out) too.
There were a few skincare products I could've included, this Wish4Beauty Exfoliation Treatment was a very close second, but Skinature's Lavender and Argan Oil Night Therapy Oil* really stood out. For one, the scent is incredibly relaxing - just what you need before bed, and it really does leave my skin super soft and nourished.
If you've been reading Hello Freckles for a while it'll come as no surprise I've featured two NARS products in my 2014 favourites. I finally bought Sheer Glow and it's definitely my favorite foundation. It ticks all the boxes with medium, buildable coverage that really lasts and looks natural. I've already bought my second bottle ready for when this runs out, so that says something doesn't it?
Sephora Lip Cremes were a very close second, but NARS lip pencils have to be my ultimate winner. If I could only use one lip product, it would be a NARS pencil. Here I've included Decanso from the Digital World Lip Coffret Set (full post here) but I love the velvet matte formula and I think altogether I've got maybe 11? Ten of those are from the two Christmas gift sets though, so I don't think that's too bad, right?
There could only be one highlighter to mention and of course that's The Balm's Mary-Lou Manizer*. I'd actually never tried this until I won Estée's giveaway but it's great! It adds just that hint of shimmer and the champagne shade is perfect for pale skin.
For eyes I've picked out Urban Decay's Perversion Mascara and Soap and Glory's Supercat Liner. I use both on a daily basis and find Supercat so easy for cat eye flicks and the mascara gives the impression of really thick, volumised lashes. I would like Urban Decay to bring out a waterproof formula though, maybe they've got that on the cards for 2015?
I hope you've enjoyed finding out my 2014 favourites, were there any surprises? I'd love to know which products really stood out for you!
