The Best Museums In #London No.3: The Cinema Museum @CinemaMuseum
Back in early January 2014 we tackled New Year Resolutions from a physical fitness point of view (clickHERE to view last January's archive).
In 2015 we're addressing another popular January promise:this year I will do more culture!
Well we're always pleased to help here at The DC. This January will be dedicated to pointing London Walkers and Daily Constitutionalists in the direction of LONDON'S BEST MUSEUMS.
We've canvassed the London Walks guides, asking them to nominate their desert island museum and we'll be posting their responses throughout the month.
As usual, you are more than welcome to join in! Get in touchvia Facebook, orTwitteror viathe usual email address.
Here's London Walks Guide Isobel…  I choose the Cinema Museum at the Elephant and Castle. The Best Museums In #London No.3: The Cinema Museum @CinemaMuseum

Run by dedicated and knowledgeable enthusiasts, it is a quirky friendly place with a whole range of events, usually with home made cake for sale.
We pass near it on my Elephant and Castle walk, Walking the Elephant – The Regeneration Game, which is next up Sunday 22nd February at 10.45.
Here's what the Cinema Museum has to say for itself on its website:
"IF YOU LOVE CINEMA… London’s Cinema Museum is devoted to keeping alive the spirit of cinema from the days before the multiplex. Set in historic surroundings in Kennington, close to the Elephant & Castle, the Cinema Museum houses a unique collection of artefacts, memorabilia and equipment that preserves the history and grandeur of cinema from the 1890s to the present day."

Isobel adds a P.S…
Hopefully by the summer and when I do the Walworth Walk next (date tbc keep checking www.walks.com for updates to the summer 2015 programme) there will have been progress in displaying artefacts from the incomparable Cuming Museum which suffered a devastating fire in 2013. Described as the British Museum in miniature, this would be the perfect collection for that desert island, and thanks to the wonderful Judy Aitken, her staff and the dedicated restorers, almost all the collection has been recovered. (Keep up-to-date with the situation at The Cuming Museum HERE. www.southwark.gov.uk/cumingmuseum)
The Cinema Museum website is here: www.cinemamuseum.org.uk
And here's how to find the museum…
