Live Animal Cameras in the Wild: Africa

When you think of wildlife, Africa is probably one of the first destinations that pop into your mind. If you're looking to catch a glimpse of some of the most fantastic animals in the wild, then these cameras in the wild are exactly what you need. You will be truly surprised to find out how diverse African wildlife is.

Where: Tembe Elephant Park, South Africa

What You Can See: Tuskers! The largest elephants on the African continent, plus numerous other species that come to visit the waterhole.

Why You'll Want to Watch:
I first found this wildlife camera several years ago when planning a trip to South Africa. I was so enthralled that I booked a stay there right after! Tembe remains one of my very favourite places in the entire world! The best time to watch is between 11:00 am to 3:00 pm local time (GMT+2). Scroll down halfway and you'll see it.

Where: Various Places including Seal Island in South Africa

What You Can See: Sharks

Why You'll Want to Watch: You have a choice of four different shark cams. Not all of them are life, but all are worth a look. I loved the shark fin camera, in which you get a shark's eye view from a camera humanely and temporarily placed on three shark's dorsal fins.

Where: Water Hole in Kenya

What You Can See: A variety, but elephants, hippos, and birds are frequent visitors. Bird lovers should keep an eye out for Egyptian Geese, Von der Decker's Hornbills, African Spoonbills, and Oxpeckers.

Why You'll Want to Watch: This wildlife camera offers 3 alternative views in addition to the main one. When I recently watched it, I had a choice of close-ups of elephants, hippos, giraffes, or Vervet monkeys chasing Guinea fowl. You can guess which one the girl who names her blog Monkeys and Mountains chose to watch 🙂

Where: Djuma Private Game Reserve in Kruger National Park, South Africa

What You Can See: The Big 5 are frequently seen here as well as other visitors such as hippopotamus, crocodiles, Hyena and so much more.

Why You'll Want to Watch: WildEarth offers live sunrise and sunset Safari's daily where you can go on a guided safari tour of one of the most popular wildlife areas in South Africa. When WildEarth isn't live streaming, you can watch some great animal footage in the wild which is almost as great as the live versions. There is a lot to be learned about South Africa's wilderness in these safari streams.

This camera gives you the perfect views of the edge of a river where you are bound to find elephants enjoying a daytime bath and having some fun. This is a soundless video feed though, so, unfortunately, you won't hear any sounds. But it is the perfect live stream to have on in the background at home to make you feel like you are in the wild.

Where: GRACE Center, Kasugho, Eastern DRC

What You Can See: Gorillas

Why You'll Want to Watch: As you can imagine, this is one of the best live animal cameras in the wild for me. Watching gorillas come and go and take some long lazy naps. This is a protected habitat for the gorillas so watching this live stream is a great way to support the amazing things that GRACE is doing for protecting these endangered primates.

Live Animal Cameras in the Wild: North America

North America has an amazing array of wildlife. And considering how amazingly diverse the continent is, you are bound to find something exciting. These live animal cameras give you a glimpse into the wild world of North America and its many interesting facets.

Each fall the polar bears gather along the banks of the Hudson Bay waiting for the ice to form so that they can head north and hunt for seals. While on land, they're in a state called walking hibernation. See for yourself what zoned out polar bears look like! Features a highlight reel during the off-season.
