A group of British people who have retired embark on a trip to India to stay at The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. But is everything as it first seems?

The answer to that would have to be no. The hotel is not what it appeared to be in the adverts and to begin with they all feel very much tricked. As time passes the charm of India and the other people gets the better of the group, showing that you are never too old to learn something. Each character has a their own story and what they want out of the final years of their lives.

I think a lot of the stories in the film can make us think about what we want to do before we reach old age. Yet it must also give people hope that no matter how old you are you can still change your life and achieve everything you want. Just showing that it is never too late to do things you have always talked about doing.

The cast is a fantastic arrangement of British talent which is reason enough to watch this film. Who can resist a film with two dames in! Judi Dench and Maggie Smith are both just fantastic and very real characters, we all know that so many old women in Britain are exactly like those characters. Actually the same can easily be said for all of the characters in this film. But then taking them from Britain to India really creates an easy to watch film.

I am trying not to spoil any of the film that is why I haven’t really gone into great detail about the characters other than them heading to India from England. As some of the stories are rather complex. It was slightly different to what I expected, it had more serious moments than looked from the trailers, but that was a good thing not a bad thing.

I enjoyed this film from start to finish, it has its funny and sad moments but mixed together very well. Plus the added bonus of Bill Nighy who I just love in every single role he is in! But this really is a special film the way it just works together and along with a cute story involving Dev Patel who really holds his own throughout the film, that couldn’t have been easy.

So if you would like a heartwarming film about older people and what you can still achieve in life no matter what your age, then this film really is for you! How will you find your stay at The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel?
