The 2016 Tony Awards show was the 70 th installment of the annual ceremony that celebrates the best achievements in Broadway musicals. The event took place at the Beacon Theater in New York City and was broadcast live on US network CBS.
The big winner of the night was the musical "Hamilton", which one 11 Tony Awards, being one away from setting a record.
As with any awards ceremony, there was a red carpet on which the stars of the Broadway and of the entertainment world showcased their personalities through their style.

Rapper Common wore a classic evening ensemble featuring a very beautiful shawl-lapel jacket. The fashion lesson you can take from his Tony Awards look is that wearing a one-button jacket will make you look more youthful than a two- or three-button jacket would.
Actor, director and singer Zachary Levi went for a suit with contrast lapels; which had a great aesthetic. While we would have made the lapels a little bit narrower, we still think that this was a noteworthy look. The skinny pants looked really great and showed that wearing clothes that fit well will always work to your advantage.
Broadway star Aaron Tveit looked amazing in a navy suit. This is a lesson every man should know: a navy suit makes a perfect alternative to the classic dark suits. Such a suit works extremely well, especially for casual, yet dressy settings, as well as for everyday activities.
Actor and rapper Daveed Diggs wore a very eye-catching jacket that is definitely something we'd like to see more of. Daveed wore a jacket that was classic in shape, but that featured printed sleeves, which were covered in a floral print. Well done!
A double-breasted jacket is a very mature way to go at a red carpet event. We really enjoyed Jake Gyllenhaal's clothes, but we also liked his grooming as well. His overall look is a lesson of how you can sport a beard and make sure you look great.
Actor and singer was a great example of how you can sport a monochrome achromatic color combination. With a black shirt, black pants and a black tie by Calvin Klein Collection, the actor, who was nominated for best performance by an actor in a featured role in a musical for "Hamilton" allowed his personality to shine through his clothes and be noticed for all the right reasons.
If there's one man who knows how to dress for a Broadway event, that definitely is Andrew Lloyd Webber. Mr. Webber kept it simple and elegant and wore only clothes that fit him right. Keeping it simple and fitted are the magic ingredients you need to look extraordinarily stylish and elegant. Well done!
Actor Andrew Rannells looked amazing in his blue suit. The reason his suit was so great was because it buttoned pretty low, rather than high, where most jackets button, which made it more interesting and visually appealing.
In somewhat of a "Who Wore It Best" scenario, actor Christopher Jackson, who was nominated for best performance by an actor in a featured role in a musical for "Hamilton" wore an ensemble similar to Andrew Rannells'. The fact that both actors looked so great in similar looks goes to show that you some items are universal and timeless and that they go well on any man! Major fashion lesson!
To conclude, it can be said that while there will be a while until men wear suits that are as catchy as the women's dresses, it is great that so many men who attended the 2016 Tony Awards worked with classic attire and adapted it to their style, personality and taste, which is what a modern elegantologist is all about.
