A family enlisted Brooklyn design-build firm MADE to renovate a Brooklyn brownstone using surplus and salvaged materials. The island and cabinets, fashioned from remilled Douglas-fir beams salvaged from upstate New York, sport inexpensive drawers from Ikea.
