The 8 Shekel Steak, Coming to a Town Near You..

By Gldmeier @gldmeier
Coffix has revolutionized the coffee shop industry in Israel. It started off as 5nis for a cup of coffee, and they quickly expanded the menu to 5nis for anything they sell which includes a variety of drinks,  danishes, sandwiches and even sushi
Now a new chain is opening to do the same on the meat side of the menu.
The new chain is called "Shmoneh", and a variety of meat sandwiches will cost 8nis each.
The first two branches have already opened in Haifa, on university campuses (Technion and Haifa U), and they are working now on expanding around the country.
The Shmoneh menu includes sandwiches made of ribs, entrecote steak, duck, pargit, shnitzel, burgers, sausage, omelettes, salads, side dishes and drinks. The chain is certified kosher by the Rabbanut.

This is awesome. Hopefully this will be affordable good food. I don't know how filling 8nis worth of ribs or steak will be, I mean - how small a steak must it be to be able to sell for 8nis -  but hopefully they have found  a way to make it work.
