This year, the Decentraland Foundation will collaborate with MetaGameHub DAO, the firm behind the DCL-Edit tool. They include this tool in this year’s Game Jam since it simplifies the development process using the Decentraland SDK. To encourage additional developers to experiment with DCL-Edit, MetaGameHub DAO will provide its own set of incentives for contributions made utilizing the technology.
The Goal: Using the many tools at your disposal, build the most engaging experience possible for Decentraland’s community.
When assessing submissions, the overall idea, game design, interactivity, inventiveness, and ‘wow factor will all be taken into account.
How to Take Part in game jam?
Entering your game in the Game Jam is straightforward; all you have to do is fill out a quick form. In addition to your contact information, the form will ask for any game instructions or information you feel is required for the judges to properly evaluate your game. When submitting your game through the form, you will be offered one of the following options:
- A public URL to your Scene’s code from GitHub, GitLab, Dropbox, or BitBucket.
- A link to your published Scene in Decentraland if you already had LAND to construct on.
- A Heroku link that may be used to play
- Begin your game.
Competition Guidelines
- Unless otherwise specified, all entries must be received by June 14, 2022, 11:55 PM UTC for the judges to consider them.
- Entries must be Decentraland Scenes with a maximum parcel size of 4×4 and no blocking issues that function in Decentraland.
- You do not need to own a LAND to participate. The Foundation will deploy all winning Game Jam Scenes to Decentraland.
- To ensure a level playing field, scenes submitted for the Game Jam should have been created in large part during the competition. If you repurposed any past work as part of the scenario, be sure to acknowledge that when you submit it.
- All contributions must be open source, enabling members of the Decentraland community to reuse their work. We’ll need to share your scene’s code, pictures, and 3D models, but the Decentraland Foundation will have no ownership of it.
- Your scenes must have interactivity. Interactivity may be shown by having the player do actions like clicking, walking into triggers, and so on, and these actions should affect the Scene’s content. Although not needed, it is appreciated if a Scene connects to external APIs or uses blockchain technology.
- If you include a game with confusing rules in your Scene, you should include instructions either in-world or in the contest submission form. Rather than reading your code, judges will attempt to experience your situation as a user.
- If a Scene makes use of a custom server to manage multiplayer conversations or other activities, you just need to submit the code for your Decentraland Scene, not the server code. To make judging easier, your Scene should connect to an existing server rather than necessitating the establishment of one.
- Submissions must be entirely original, and the participant must own all rights to the submission and the content included within it.
- No copyrighted content (music, photographs, etc.) or trademarks (company names, logos, brands, etc.) may be used in the Submission unless the participant is the owner (s). Another material owned by a third party is not allowed to be used. Non-original content in submissions will be rejected.
- The Submission must not include, among other things, offensive, inappropriate, indecent, vulgar, hateful, or discriminatory information.
