Who would have thought bringing Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston together in one movie would be a huge success? However, that's exactly what happened with this 2018 release. Hart plays a man who was recently released from prison. He's looking for a job, any job. He manages to get an interview with Bryan Cranston's character, a rich man who is also paraplegic. Hart is hired as Cranston's supervisor and they eventually become friends, each learning valuable lessons from one another. It's very melodramatic, but Hart and Cranston's performances establish this film and make it more real.

This 2015 film earned Brie Larson her Academy Award for Best Actress. It's easy to see why she plays a woman who, as a young girl, is kidnapped by a man and has to live in a room for seven years. She even becomes pregnant and has a son while she remains captive. The film shows this unusual and tragic life between mother and daughter. It also sees their lives change when they escape their kidnapper and see the real world. It's definitely one of the best Showtime movies out there.

Director and co-writer Sam Mendes created a truly unique war movie with this 2019 film. Set during a battle in World War I, it follows two British soldiers trying to get a message across to the front lines before the main army makes a big mistake. Mendes filmed and edited this film like it was a long take, and it's a truly incredible cinematic accomplishment. It really is one of the best movies on Showtime.

Here's another great movie about finding true man-made life. Written and directed by Alex Garland, the 2015 film stars Domhnall Gleeson, who is invited to his home by a wealthy but eccentric CEO of a technology company played by Oscar Isaac. It turns out Isacc's character wants Gleeson to rate Ava, an artificial woman played by Alicia Vikander. Is Ava just a machine or is it really alive? That's what this film is about.

It features Matthew McConaughey as an American living in the UK responsible for a major crime marijuana business. However, he wants to leave the business which leads to a ton of other criminals wanting to take it over. The film also stars Colin Farrell, Hugh Grant, Charlie Hunnam and Michelle Dockery.

The late Chadwick Boseman had one of his final leading roles in this 2019 crime thriller. He plays a New York cop looking for two criminals who shot and killed a group of NYPD officers. Boseman's character has a unique solution to finding her. He wants to barricade the entire island of Manhattan for a few hours at night to prevent the shooters from escaping. The pursuit of these killers has some interesting twists, however.

There have been four films based on the classic 1954 science fiction novel The Body Snatchers. The 1978 adaptation, however, remains the best. Donald Sutherland appears as a health inspector in San Francisco. He slowly sees that the people around him are getting cold and emotionless. However, this is not a new form of new physical or mental illness. It's a silent alien invasion who replicate and then replace humans. Can Sutherland stop this threat? The tension in this film is high almost from the first minute and lasts until the end. It's definitely one of the best movies on Showtime.
