Confession – I fell in love with this light fixture at first sight. And after coming across it on more than a few occasions, I had to learn more about the amazing design. As it turns out, the fixture is designed by Tom Dixon, a British product design brand. Not surprising, considering pretty much everything the Brits do is grand and glamorous in comparison to the rest of us. Tom started off designing pottery in 1975, and continued to take off from there. From a permanent collection in NYC’s Modern Museum of Art, to a stint as Creative Director at Habitat, Dixon’s history is pretty impressive to say the least. The copper finish combined with the oversized domed shape really makes a statement doesn’t it? I really wish I could find a home for one, or several of these beauties, but sadly they don’t quite go with our design and decor, so it’ll probably never happen. But hey, a girl can dream right? In the meantime, I’ll just continue to admire them from afar and use golden home accessories to get my gold fix.
