TFC Film Review: Snow White and The Huntsmen

By Kena @campchic
Wait! When did the "Huntsmen" in Snow White become HOT? Whoa! I left the theater thinking "now where can I find a dark forest to get lost in just so that Huntsmen can come find me.  This film is a MUST SEE!  Forget the Disney fairytale you knew when you were a child. Snow White and The Huntsmen is dark, but brilliantly done. I love all the new character's in the film. One being the Evil Queen's brother. He had the same creepy hair cut as Javier Bardem's character in No Country for Old Men. This movie is packed with so much action and adventure, for a split second I thought I was watching The Gladiator, The Tudors, and Joan or Arch all in one movie. It's Epic! I loved how Kristen Stewart portrayed Snow White. She's got a bit of "Mob Wives" in her. This 21st Century Snow White isn't waiting around for Prince Charming to save her. Nope, she's saving her kingdom herself!  I never could identify with the classic Snow White fairytale when I was a little girl. I'm too feisty to wait for a man to come and save me. Don't get me wrong I love the Menz but sometimes you have to suit up and go to war yourself! Charlize Theron who is so fierce when it comes to acting, was by far my favorite character in the film. She really brought the evil. Plus I kept drooling over her gowns. I loved how her costumes were tailoried to her moods in each scene. The art direction in this film is insane! It's visually just as beautiful as the storyline. I kept thinking "how many horses and men did they have to get for those beach scenes".  The dark forest I'm sure was shot live and also re-created with the use of CGI. Either way the film was definintely a collborative effort between the Director, Costume Designer, Art Director, and Actors! I don't want to give too much away so I will leave you with this commission...........GO SEE IT!!!
