At Texas Electricity Ratings, we take pride in our consumer advocacy for customers in the deregulated electricity market. Recently, we revamped our ratings to include new criteria, and to take advantage of our decades of experience in the Texas Electricity market to help give useful rankings of the electricity providers in Texas. And we were very pleased with our efforts. That being said, while we think we have some important things to say on the subject, that is no substitute for the opinions and experiences of the consumers themselves.
To that end, we’ve chosen to create and highlight a page where providers are ranked solely on their reviews from customers. While there is something to be said about the insights we can offer customers based on our experiences and some data that isn’t available to Joe Consumer, we 100% believe there is a place where customers can look at just provider reviews that are submitted by customers and see how retail electricity providers stack up. To that end, We have created the Texas Electricity Ratings People’s Choice page!
Our People’s Choice page shows the top 10 electricity providers based entirely upon the reviews customers have submitted to our website. Additionally, to allow for electricity providers to improve their relationships with customers, this page only rates a provider based upon reviews from the past 6 months. This was important to us because it means a company won’t be weighed down negative reviews they may have had 5 years ago. If a company made a commitment to customer service, for example, they should be recognized and rewarded for making those changes in their business, and we want to be able to sure and reflect that here at Texas Electricity Ratings. It also means that shoppers can check back and see which providers might be trending upwards or downwards with customer reviews. We also limited this list to providers that have at least 50 total reviews in our system, even if we’re only ranking the reviews of the last 6 months. We wanted to make sure it was providers with an established threshold of service and reviews, as well as make sure a bunch of providers with 1 or a couple 5 star reviews would litter the ranking.
So without further ado, we’d like to congratulate Direct Energy on being the #1 ranked provider in customer reviews for the past 6 months. They came in with a rating of 4.53 out of a possible 5, and this was based on 71 reviews! So congratulations Direct Energy! In the second spot, we have 4Change Energy, with a rating of 4.44 based on 85 reviews! And rounding out the top 3 is Champion Energy, with a 3.92 rating out 5, based on 18 reviews. Great job guys.
We’ll be releasing regular blog posts every few months highlighting who the current #1 provider is in our People’s Choice category, but since the list is dynamic it could change from week to week or even day to day. So stay tuned, everyone, and continue to track what the voting public thinks about the different retail electricity providers providing service to Texans!
