Texas has been a very red state for more than two decades now. It is a state that Republicans rely on for statewide offices and to send a majority to Washington. So one might think that Texans would agree with right-wingers on the issues of LGBT rights and abortion rights.
But a new poll shows that's just not true. About 71% of Texas voters say businesses should not be allowed to refuse service to members of the LGBT community. And 58% say those businesses should not be allowed to refuse services to LGBT individuals -- even when they say it's for religious reasons.
And the same is true when it comes to the right of a woman to choose to have an abortion. About 57% of voters support the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision, and they do NOT want to see it overturned.
The charts above reflect the results of a recent Quinnipiac University Poll -- done between May 29th and June 4th of 1,159 Texas voters. The poll has a margin of error of 3.4 points.
