Texas is a red state. It is ruled on the state government level by Republicans, and those Republicans have refused to pass any restrictions on the sale or possession of guns. In fact, they have done just the opposite, by allowing gun nuts to openly carry firearms.
That does not mean that is the wish of the state's citizens though. I published a poll last week showing that Texans would like to see some stricter gun laws. Now a second poll has been released showing Texans agree withe the rest of the country is their desire for stricter sensible gun laws.
The charts above are from a recent Quinnipiac University Poll -- done between May 23rd and 29th of 961 Texas voters, with a margin of error of 3.8 points. The results are:
* By an 87 point margin, Texans believe ALL gun buyers should have to go through a background check.
* By a 6 point margin, Texans would support a nationwide ban on the sale of military-style assault weapons.
* By a 31 point margin, Texans would like guns to be required kept in a locked place.
* By a 37 point margin, Texans would support holding a parent legally responsible if their child uses their gun to commit a crime.
