Tennis Rules And Situations | Part 2

Hi everyone! In this second video of the "Rules And Situations" series, I want to address two situations that happen frequently among league players, and for the most part they go unpunished because no one on the court is familiar enough with the rules to know better.

First, I'd like to discuss Rule 26. that defines "hindrance", specifically how it relates to talking to your partner during a point. This occurs frequently during league matches and the penalty is usually not enforced, mainly because many are not aware that that this IS a hindrance. Don't lose points because you do this, and be sure and hold your opponents accountable if they do.

Secondly, I want to talk about poor sportsmanship and what is probably the most abused rule in league tennis (it happens with the pros, too.) Rule 29 regarding "continuous play" includes time that is allowed for bathroom breaks. Rather than using it appropriately, many league players take this opportunity to reset, calm down, get coaching, or simply try to break the opponent's momentum - and some will do it more than once in the same match. This is a code violation and there are penalties, and it will give you a bad reputation within the league because players will talk, so just don't do it.

As always, my goal is to give all of you the tips and tools you need to be the best tennis players you can be. If you have any questions about rules, or situations that happened to you, please tell me about it in the comments section below and I'll address it in a future video! Also, be sure and share my posts with your tennis friends, and connect with me on and Youtube!
