Ten Amazing Things You Can Make With Old Spanners

By Russell Deasley @Worlds_Top_10

As time goes on we all have tools on the shed or toolbox that go a little rusted and unsafe to use. Spanners are often one of the worst things for thing for this, but the good news is you can also recycle, repurpose and reuse them into one of these amazing things...

Key Hanger

Like most the things on this list, you will need to do some metal craft to make one of these. But if you don't have the skills you can always buy them via the link in the source list.

Picture Frame

Most of us have more than a few spanners that might be going rusty, so why not save 4 of them from landfill and turn them into a picture frame! Maybe it could have a picture of the first day you got those said spanners! I'm not sure why you might take a picture of that day, but the idea is good.

Coat Hanger

Now you have somewhere to hang your keys you will need somewhere to hang your coat and what better thing to hang it on that a recycled spanner! The good news is even an old spanner is going to be strong enough to support even the heaviest of coats.

Bench

You will not only need some big spanners to pull this idea off, but you will also need some other things for the set and legs. But it sure looks impressive and would be perfect for any garden.

Door Handles

IF you need to replace a door handle a moulded spanner makes for a good handle and of course a good grip. I would personally use these on a shed or possible on a tool shop, but I suppose you could use them anywhere.

Wind Chime

If you like the sound of a wind chime you will love the sound of one make with old spanners. The more sized spanners you use, the better the range of the chimes!

Business Card Holder

If you have some spanners that are too small to do much with, you might want to make one of these business cardholders. Obviously the bigger the spanners the more cards it could hold.

Garden Gate

You will need some big spanners for sure to make a whole garden gate from them, but it looks great, especially if used as a garden divider to the shed or vegetable patch.

Sculpture Garden Seat

If you have enough to make a bench as we saw earlier, you might also have enough to make this wonderful garden set that is also part sculpture. It's impressive for sure, but you will need a LOT of spanners to pull it off.

Wall Clock

If you really know your wrench sizes you will be able to tell the time just by looking at the size of the wrench! Personally I wouldn't know one spanner from another so I would be looking at the clock hands.
