Temple of Leah: A Majestic Shrine Made Of Love in Cebu

As I’ve said in my previous article which is about the famous Sirao Flower Garden, my Aunt wanted to visit Temple of Leah but as a part of the half day tour, I decided to include the latter. So after indulging to the wonderful flower farm in Sirao, we then went to the majestic Temple of Leah.

It’s been my second time visiting the place but just like the first time, it still left me in awe. The structure, the atmosphere, the amazing view – everything just reminds me of the glorious temples in Greece and Rome. Ofcourse I haven’t been there, haha, but it’s been in my bucket for quite a while now. You see, I’m a big fan of Greek and Roman mythology so obviously, I need to see and explore these countries first hand. And can you believe that those dream of mine just got real (sort of) when I visit Temple of Leah? Yep, it sure did!

Temple of Leah, just like the world famous Taj Mahal of India, is a work built as a symbol of a man’s undying love to his wife. See what love can do? And because this was made out of love, it doesn’t just welcome visitors with the spectacular view of the city but also with the warmth of the place.

This must-see Cebu attraction is perfect for those who would want to appreciate the structure while checking out their impressive gallery and museum. This is also perfect for pre-nuptial picturials and photoshoots.

Location

Temple of Leah is located in Roosevelt St., Brgy. Busay Cebu City just a few meters past the Mountain View Nature Park and Lantaw Native Restaurant. For commuters, it can be reached by motorcyle more preferabe than taxi because of the steep winding road.

How to get to Temple of Leah

There’s actually four ways you can get there, but I wouldn’t recommend riding a taxi because of the steep winding road. So for now, let’s settle for three ways.

Via motorcycle

From Cebu City, ride a jeepney that is bound to Lahug or any jeepneys that will pass JY Square Mall. Fare is only Php8.
Drop off point is JY Square Mall.
From there, you will be greeted with a lot of motorcycle riders that will offer you to get to Temple of Leah. They usually charge you Php100, but if you’re good with haggling, you can lower it to Php75 per person one way with a total of Php150 back and forth per person.
Go back the same way.

Via private vehicle

If you are driving it directly to Temple of Leah, let’s not make it difficult for the both of us eh? Type in Temple of Leah in your navigation app to guide you. Don’t worry, there’s a lot of locals you can ask around if ever you find yourself lost even with the help of your navigation app. *wink

Via shuttle service (perfect for group tours)

From Cebu City, ride a jeepney that is bound to Lahug or any jeepneys that will pass JY Square Mall. Drop off point is JY Square Mall. Fare is only Php8.
You can find the shuttle service parks at McDonald’s near JY Square. The fare for the shuttle is Php400 which covers 20 persons. It’s schedule is from 9AM to 8PM only, but not yet sure if they are servicing daily.

Temple of Leah Fun Facts

The Leah here refers to the one and only Leah V. Albino-Adarna, the beloved wife of Teodorico Soriano Adarna, the man who made this temple possible to build as a symbol of his undying love and ceaseless devotion to his beloved Leah, his wife for 53 years.
The temple has 24 chambers that showcase all of Leah’s lifetime collections.
At the middle of the temple, you’ll find a bronze statue about 9-feet tall of Leah V. Albino Adarna that portrays her innate beauty, poise and genteelness.
The temple has a museum, gallery and a library wherein all of Leah’s favorite things are stored.
There is a pyramid made of glass at the rooftop right above the statue of Leah providing it a natural lighting.
The temple was constructed in the year 2012.
Leah is the grandmother of the Filipina actress, Ellen Adarna.
While admiring the incredible scenery, the place has some few tables and chairs where you can nibble on some snakes as well as enjoy a drink. There’s one food stall in the place if you failed to bring your own snacks. Don’t worry, the prices are the same as when you buy them in the grocery store.

Travel Tips

Always exercise caution and take pictures at your own risk.
Observe cleanliness, never leave your garbage everywhere.
The best time to visit is around 4-5 o’clock in the afternoon where the heat is already bearable and the sun is about to go down. The sunset view in the temple sounds more romantic with a special someone, don’t you think?
