Tech Achievements We Most Often Take for Granted

Posted on the 15 April 2022 by Jitender Sharma

Technology moves at a tremendous pace, and only the last decade introduced some tech advancements that are out of this world, yet, we quickly accepted them as part of our lives without paying too much attention to how they were made. We forgot they didn’t exist some ten years ago.

We’re coping with a world pandemic now, and without these inventions, our lives would’ve been more difficult. Of course, some of them are not used regularly and are only partially used in our lives, but they are still great inventions that will be even bigger in the future.

If you love reading about where the world is headed, you’ll be stunned by things we regularly use without realizing that we’re underestimating their significance. We’re sharing six amazing tech advancements. Keep reading and see what they are.

1. GPS

More than 4.5 thousand satellites are up in the sky made from humans. Most of them are used for information transfer. These satellites precisely monitor the location of all devices connected to them. Your smartphone is traceable no matter where you are because the satellites in the sky cover every inch of the planet.

GPS stands for Global Positioning System and is a system that helps us always find our way to the desired location. When you get inside the car or open the maps on your phone, the route is carefully calculated with the help of the GPS.

2. Flashlights

Some might be surprised by this point, but have you ever wondered how people used to see in the dark before flashlights? They were carrying torches made of fire; heavy, short-lasting, and dangerous.

Walking in the dark is unimaginable without the help of modern LED flashlights that will illuminate a great area around you. When the first flashlights were invented, they lasted a short time and were overweight. Today, you can buy military flashlights online. These items are lightweight, last for days, and keep you safe no matter where you are.

3. Artificial intelligence

Many people are not aware that artificial intelligence and its technology are deeply involved in our lives. Everything we use today in the form of digital communications already uses a ton of AI software that recognizes our behavior, needs, and wishes.

All social media, smartphone apps, even the car you’re driving to work has AI software installed that will try to give you what you need. AI will closely monitor your behavior and learn about you, only to provide the music you want at the given moment, the information you need, and dictates what ads you’re going to see, just like everything else that has pros and cons.

4. Smartphones

Smartphones have been around only a little more than a decade, but people got so used to them that today we can barely function without their presence. Forgetting your phone at home and going to work may cause total confusion and make you wonder how to finish all your tasks.

Moreover, with the help of IoT (Internet of Things) technologies, the smartphone is a key device to pay in stores, unlock doors, turn on appliances, and monitor what’s happening at home where a nanny babysits your kids. Calls and talking to people are the most negligible benefits smartphones provide for us today.

5. Augmented and virtual reality

AR and VR are some of those inventions that are amazing. Although still not as globally developed as they should be, these technologies have great potential to become the next smartphones, talking about excessive use, of course.

However, people don’t realize how beneficial these technologies are for humankind. The ability to be present in an entirely different reality is staggering. People go on vacations and enjoy themselves with a simple VR set. You won’t actually have to go to the mall in the future, but enjoy your sofa and shop without moving a finger.

6. Cryptocurrency

Last, but not least on our list is cryptocurrency. Most people who are not involved in the blockchain industry ignore cryptocurrency’s impact on today’s way of life and hopping, but they’ll soon want in.

The best thing about cryptocurrencies is that they are decentralized and provide a form of financial freedom for everyone. No banks, no third parties getting taxes on your earnings. The European Union and the US government both work on their national cryptocurrencies, which shows that the future of payments is through the internet.

Conclusion

When you’re thinking about technology, you’re thinking about something extraordinary. The truth is, we ignore most of it because we got used to its benefits. These points above show how much we take for granted most of the things that make our lives easier. No one knows how much better they’ll become in the future.
