Describing  ”You Can”, by Toronto trio Tearjerker, requires using well-worn words like fuzzy, lo-fi, shoegaze, but no terminology really applies once you’ve laid a pair of ears on its brutally effective hook. It just keeps looping its way on during the tracks five short minutes until virtually becoming airborne. Still not convinced? Think something like a pop extraction of Explosions in The Sky and My Bloody Valentine with a dose of Polyphonic Spree catharsis.

Tearjerker has been around long enough to touch on a variety of genres, often with a lo-fi- or dream- prefix attached. Over the years they’ve gradually perfected their craft, added more layers – and frankly –gotten more interesting. But nothing comes close to euphoric upsurge of “You Can”. The track is part of a new EP Hiding, to be released May 20 via SQE Music.
