Almost each year in the NCAA Tournament a Cinderella team shows up and takes over the spotlight. In my opinion that’s what makes College Basketball one of the best and intense sports. There is no telling who can upset who this season, but I can definitely take a shot at it.
Iowa State has been a very impressive team this season. They have a win over Kansas showing they can play with the bests of College Basketball and the Cyclones also aren’t doing badly in the Big 12 as they could shake up the conference tournament. If Iowa State continues their success they can be looking at a possible eight or nine seed. If so they have all the makings to upset a top seed like Syracuse or Missouri.
Notre Dame is another team that has a key win. Early on beating Syracuse and playing consistent the past few weeks could help the Irish earn a decent seed in the Dance. Once they get there they need a little help from the pairings, but if it works out then Notre Dame could be dancing awhile.
New Mexico is the last true team that can really shake up the brackets in this year’s tournament. Beating San Diego State and UNLV helped out tremendously in their potential seed. If they can sneak in at an 11-seed to 12-seed then they could dominate. It all depends on the road they’ll have but watch out for the Lobos, they can contend with many teams in the country.
Those are my top choices for teams willing of a Cinderella story. However Kansas State, Creighton, Saint Mary’s, and Murray State all can make runs just as well. It’s tough to predict Cinderella’s but I see these teams making a big impact in March.
