HBO’s True Blood teams up with NHS Blood and Transplant (in the UK) to encourage fans and cast of the show to donate this Halloween.
Fans and cast members of HBO’s hit TV show TRUE BLOOD are being encouraged to sign up to become blood donors this Halloween.
Many underestimate the need to become a blood donor, as over 6,000 donations are needed every day. People wishing to become donors can sign up by visiting blood.co.uk where they can also book an appointment to donate. Once people have registered on the website, they are encouraged to take a selfie and tweet it along with #givetrueblood. Cast and fans of the show are rallying around to show their support of the initiative.
Jon Latham, Assistant Director at NHS Blood and Transplant said, “We are encouraging all True Blood fans to register as blood donors this Halloween. Blood is something we all expect to be there for us when we need it, yet only 4% of us actually give blood. Many people would not be alive today if it wasn’t for the generosity of our donors. Most people who are fit and healthy can give blood, but all donors have to meet certain criteria. So that’s vampires out!”
