Teaching Notes: On Radiant Lives And Revival Fires

Teaching Notes: On Radiant Lives And Revival Fires

Teaching Notes are Bible studies we taught before GraceLife Ministries began publishing articles online in 1995. Some were presented as sermons, others as group studies.

Our hope is that these older studies will be a blessing to you in your life and ministry. Please use them in any way God leads you.

These teaching notes are from a study in the Gospel of Matthew.

[These notes are from a study taught more than 40 years ago. The notes are in outline form.]

Read Matthew 5:1-6

Text: Matthew 5:14-16

A. “Ye are the light of the world.”

Christians! You and I are the light in this world of darkness!!

That means our lives are a great reproof to the wicked.

John 3:19-20 reads –

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”

We are the only people on earth who can show a lost man or woman, boy or girl the way out of spiritual darkness.

Turn to Acts 13:46-49

B. “A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.”

This is the principle of “radiant lives!”

C. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works.”

This is the principle of “revival fires!”

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10

D. “And glorify your Father which is in Heaven.”

This is the ultimate aim of all right living!

[Invitation]

Salvation – Need of the light, Jesus Christ

Think of three people in your life who are not saved and ask yourself two questions about each one:

  1. How have I been a light in their lives?
  2. What does God want me to do this week in letting my life so shine before them that they see my good works and glorify my Father in Heaven?

Now, share your burden for those three souls with the person next to you in prayer. Take a few minutes, and as a family of God, let’s bear each other’s burdens and pray for one another.

[Thank you for reading these teaching notes from more than 40 years ago. My prayer is they will be a blessing to you and your ministry.]
