Taylor Swift has made seismic waves with her music, quite literally! The 34-year-old singer recently concluded a three-day concert series in Edinburgh, Scotland, where the enthusiastic audience caused tremors felt up to 6 km away from the venue.
According to a BBC report, the British Geological Survey confirmed detecting seismic activity during each of the three nights. The seismograph displayed consistent patterns, with songs such as ‘…Ready For It?’, ‘Cruel Summer’, and ‘champagne problems’ registering notable seismic readings nightly.
Analysis of the seismograph data revealed that the most intense dancing occurred on Friday night, though significant activity was observed each evening. It’s estimated that the 73,000 attendees on Friday danced the most vigorously across the weekend. Swift performed for approximately 3.5 hours each night from Friday through Sunday at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium, setting a new attendance record for Scotland.
The BGS report highlighted, “The seismic activity was primarily attributed to fans dancing in sync with the music, peaking at 160 beats per minute during ‘…Ready For It?’, generating about 80 kW of power (equivalent to 10-16 car batteries).”
Notably, Swift’s concerts broke previous attendance records, marking the highest attended concert in Scottish history.
On Sunday, Swift expressed gratitude to her fans for their overwhelming support. Addressing the crowd, the fourteen-time Grammy winner remarked, “It’s been unbelievably incredible here in Edinburgh because every night I’ve gotten to come out here and they’ve pulled me aside and said, ‘You know this crowd broke the all-time stadium attendance record for all of Scotland for all of time.'”
“Thank you, Edinburgh! That is absolutely the craziest way to welcome a girl to your city,” she added.
