I'm a massive fan of the author and the Shadowhunters. I've read and loved most of the books. Simon Lewis is one of my favourite characters. I decided I had to read this when I discovered he'd been made a Shadowhunter in the latest trilogy, The Dark Artifices. I enjoyed each story in this book, all of which focus around Simon's experiences at the Shadowhunter Academy where he's fled in a hope to restore his lost memories and confidence and identity. He's a bit of a hero at the academy because of his actions in the Mortal War but feels guilty because he doesn't remember being this person. Each story focuses on lessons Simon and his friends have at the academy while also revealing Shadowhunter lore and legends through various well known characters who give lectures. I enjoyed Tale from the Shadowhunter Academy; I just found it a little lighter and more formulaic than the other books.
