T-Mobile has announced that it will add 5.6 million net customers in 2020. These are the most customers in the history of the mobile operator, as T-Mobile announced in its preliminary annual results on Wednesday.
"Our focus on delivering unmatched value and experience to customers while building and delivering the best 5G network in the country paid off with record results in 2020," said Mike Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile. "Our 5G leadership is getting stronger every day."

T-Mobile announced that its "ultra-capacity" 5G network is now reaching 106 million people. According to T-Mobile, this is 50 times more than Verizon's 5G coverage, even though network operators use different radio waves for their 5G networks.
Verizon uses high-band millimeter wave 5G spectrum that is very fast but limited to short distances and blocked by solid obstacles such as buildings and trees. AT&T uses 850 MHz spectrum for its low-band 5G network, which has better range but slower speeds. AT&T and Verizon will also use a new technology called Dynamic Spectrum Sharing to share 4G radio waves with 5G and improve performance.
T-Mobile also uses a 600 MHz low-band spectrum, but was also able to integrate Sprint's 2.5 GHz mid-band spectrum for its "layer cake" approach for 5G, as the carrier's merger with Sprint im April 2020, valued at $ 26.5 billion. The mid-band spectrum is faster than low-band and travels further than high-band.
