SYMA Medical CEntre @ Rs.2 - Article in The Hindu - Tamil Edition

Srinivas Youngmens Association, popularly known as SYMA has been in the field of Social service since 1977.  At Triplicane, opposite to the historic Bharathiar Illam, we have our Office where we run Medical Centre providing consultation and medicines to poor patients at measly  Rs.2/-; this Centre functions  from 5 pm to 7 pm on all days excluding Sundays and National holidays.  We run a Educational Tuition centre titled ‘SYMA Growth’ providing free tuition center for 2 hours  on all days of week.  We are registered with  the Registrar of Societies. With care and concern for the society, we have been actively involved in service doing multifarious activities which include – coordination with civic authorities in keeping the environ clean,  conducting health campaigns – promoting health care and hygiene;  organizing  Eye Camps, Blood Camps and other camps. Every year, we have been providing uniforms to poor students and this year too we are to provide 1200 sets.  In the Educational Aid function,  We also provide financial assistance to select college students.   In our earnest effort to improve the competitive spirit and to instill confidence in school children, We have been conducting Child Fest every year in which more than 4000 students from around 100 city schools participate.   We have the solid support and continued patronage of many philanthropists and well-wishers.  The activities of SYMA have been highlighted in various news media. Sampathkumar Secretary, SYMA. சென்னை திருவல்லிக்கேணி ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி கோயில் அருகே  ‘சைமா’ மருத்துவமனையில் 2 ரூபாய் கட்டணத்துக்கு தரமான மருத்துவ சிகிச்சை அளிக்கப்படுகிறது.  இதுகுறித்து சங்கத்தின் செயலாளர் எஸ்.சம்பத்குமார்  ‘தி இந்து’விடம் கூறியதாவது: திருவல்லிக்கேணி பார்த்த சாரதி கோயில் சுற்றுவட்டாரப் பகுதியில் சேரும் குப்பைகளை அகற்றும் முயற்சியில் 1977-ம் ஆண்டு 40 இளைஞர்கள் இணைந்து செயல்பட்டோம். அந்த குழுவுக்கு ‘ஸ்ரீநிவாஸ் இளைஞர்கள் நற்பணி சங்கம்’(சைமா) என பெயர் வைத்தோம். முதற்கட்டமாக ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி கோயில் அருகில் சிறிய அளவில் ஆய்வகத்துடன் கூடிய மருத்துவமனையை ஆரம்பித்தோம். இங்கு ஏழை, பணக்காரர் என்ற பாகுபாடின்றி சிகிச்சை அளித்து வருகிறோம். முதல்முறை சிகிச்சைக்கு வருபவர்களுக்கு பதிவுக் கட்டணம் ரூ.5/-  அடுத்தடுத்த தடவை வரும்போது ரூ.2/- மட்டும் செலுத்தினால் போதும். தேவைப்படும் மருத்துவப் பரிசோதனைகளை இங்குள்ள ஆய்வகத்தில் குறைந்த செலவில் செய்துகொள்ளலாம். நாங்கள் கூறும் மருந்துக் கடையில் மருந்து, மாத்திரைகளையும் இலவசமாக பெற்றுக்கொள்ளலாம். சங்கத்தில் தற்போது 380 உறுப்பினர்கள் உள்ளனர். வாடகைக் கட்டிடத்தில் இயங்கும் மருத்துவமனையை சொந்த கட்டிடத்தில், இன்னும் பெரிதாக மாற்ற வேண்டும் என்பது /எங்கள் விருப்பம். அரசு அல்லது தன்னார்வத் தொண்டர்களிடம்  இருந்து உதவியை எதிர்பார்க்கிறோம். ~~ இவ்வாறு சம்பத்குமார் கூறினார். சர்க்கரை நோயாளிகளுக்கு ஆண்டு முழுவதும் தொடர்சிகிச்சை, பரிசோதனை வசதி, ஆண்டுக்கு ஒரு முறை கண் சிகிச்சை முகாம், பொது மருத்துவ முகாம், பொதுத் தேர்வு எழுதும் மாணவர்களுக்கு இலவசப் பயிற்சி வகுப்பு, மேற்படிப்புக்கு ரூ.10ஆயிரம்வரை உதவி, கோயில் குளம் துப்புரவுப் பணி, கோயில் எதிரே உள்ள கழிவறை பராமரிப்பு என பல தொண்டுகளை சத்தமின்றி செய்துவருகிறது ‘சைமா’.
