Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, three students created the Swatchmate Cube, a portable device that captures the color of any surface. Using Bluetooth, it sends the color data to your smartphone or directly into Photoshop. Think of it like Shazam, but for color! They were tired of not being able to capture and interact with the colours around them so they set out to design a simple an accurate way to record this information. The Cube contains a light source, sphere and color sensors that detects a controlled sequence of light shone on the surface to read the color. Don’t fret if you don’t have a smartphone, this baby stores up to 20 colors on its internal storage if needed. You’ll never miss another moment of inspiration again.
